Founded in 2023
The Elite Army was founded in June 2023 in response to experiences highlighting ongoing judgement, lack of education, and inequality pertaining to individuals in the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
The concept was established with strength in mind, alongside an unwillingness to accept that people are treated differently based on their sexuality or gender. The Elite Army logo was designed to reflect this mindset, and to offer a new and unique symbol that can be displayed or worn to promote these values.

The Elite Army logo design was inspired by three historical 2SLGBTQI+ icons:
Sacred Band of Thebes
The Sacred Band of Thebes holds historical importance as a pioneering military unit composed of same-sex couples bonded by love and mutual devotion. Their effectiveness in battle, notably defeating the Spartan forces at Leuctra, showcased the potential of emotional bonds to enhance combat performance in ancient warfare. Their legacy challenges traditional notions of military cohesion and highlights the significance of personal and emotional connections in achieving military success.
Pink Triangle Symbol
The pink triangle symbol holds profound historical significance as a symbol of 2SLGBTQI+ pride and resistance, particularly due to its association with Nazi persecution of gay men during World War II. Originally used as a badge of shame in concentration camps, it has been reclaimed as a symbol of resilience and remembrance. Today, it serves as a poignant reminder of the 2SLGBTQI+ community's struggles for rights and acceptance worldwide.
Rainbow Flag
The rainbow flag is an iconic symbol that represents the 2SLGBTQI+ community's resilience, diversity, and quest for equality. Its vibrant colors signify inclusivity and acceptance, offering a visual affirmation of pride and solidarity. Introduced in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, it has become a global emblem, advocating for 2SLGBTQI+ rights and visibility. The flag continues to serve as a beacon of hope and celebration, empowering individuals to embrace their identities openly and proudly.
